Alfred Sung
Designer History
Born in Shanghai in 1948 and raised in Hong Kong, international designer and fragrance creator Alfred Sung studied couture at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. After graduating with honors, Sung moved to New York to study at Parsons School of Design. In 1972, he moved to Canada and, in 1976, he opened his own shop, called “Moon.” In 1981, the label was launched in the US through Saks Fifth Avenue and was soon carried by prominent stores such as Macy’s, Nordstrom’s, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman. In 1982, Sung opened his first free-standing store in Hazelton Lanes, Toronto.
The Sung licensed product lines include fragrance, eyewear, sunglasses, bridal, jewelry and fashion accessories, as well as men’s clothing and accessories.
Designer Perfume History
The Sung fragrance line reflects his unique sensibilities – expressing both the spirit and energy of the moment for today’s innovative woman. Sung by Alfred Sung launched in 1986, and was followed by numerous successful launches including Shi perfume in 2001 and Paradise perfume in 2003. In 2005, a new signature fragrance, Alfred Sung Jewel was added (2005). Men’s scents include Hei and Alfred Sung cologne. Recent releases include Alfred Sung Bijou (2006), Alfred Sung Joya (2006), Alfred Sung Always (2009).
